GRAND HYATT BERLIN
Grand Hyatt Berlin, a 342-room hotel, innovative in design and home to exclusive contemporary art, is located at Potsdamer Platz close to Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag. It features a large pool and spa that overlook the rooftops of Berlin.
Based on the idea that most guests feel most comfortable at home, Hyatt International launched a brand new concept for doing business. “The Gallery” at Grand Hyatt Berlin is the embodiment of this concept. In the process “conference floor” was deleted from the hotel’s vocabulary. The newly designed rooms in “The Gallery” feel more like stylish living or dining rooms, whose warm colours and carefully selected materials match perfectly the design concept of Grand Hyatt Berlin.
Original contemporary art by Dieter Roth, Julio Rondo or Dirk Skreber selected from the DaimlerChrysler art selection inspire new ideas and are the ideal setting for both a happy couple and a board meeting. Elements such as dark leather-covered doors; cabinets made of bog oak; fibre wall coverings in warm, muted hues; silver panels featuring architectural sketches of Berlin; and woollen carpets dominate the rooms, all of which are flooded with daylight. The cabinets host a mini bar so that every coffee, cappuccino or espresso can be freshly prepared. “When you are the guest of a good host, you naturally serve yourself from the host’s fridge,” says Hürst as he summarises the private touch of “The Gallery”.
In the foyer, five large organic tables by the Korean artist Jae Hyo Lee offer the ideal space to dine, while also being unique objects d’art. The handcrafted art pieces made from huge pine tree logs offer space for both buffets and are also ideal for gatherings and discussions.
The relaxed atmosphere with a personal touch is supported throughout by leading edge technology for the delegate and guest. Dining options include stylish restaurant Vox, with a show kitchen and a sushi bar, Vox bar with live music, restaurant mesa with German cuisine served family-style.
The incredible city of Berlin is a top event location with a dynamic offering for small, medium and large events and incentives – and a very bright future. Berlin is now a full member of the BestCities Global Alliance – a network of international meeting and convention metropolises which include Dubai, Singapore, Melbourne, Houston, Copenhagen, Cape Town, Edinburgh, San Juan and Vancouver. This will establish the German capital as a major convention player for new international markets.
Berlin continues to gain in attractiveness as a location for large-scale events. By the end of 2013 a new congress and exhibition venue will arrive. The CityCube Berlin will be built at the site of the former Deutschlandhalle arena. It replaces temporarily the International Congress Centrum ICC Berlin, which will be closed and completely refurbished from 2014 onwards. With the re-opening of ICC Berlin, Messe Berlin will then have twice as many convention capacities. These new capacities will further increase Berlin’s attractiveness as a destination for international events.
